How remedial work is quoted

Remedial and surgical shoeing isn't priced from a list, because no two horses need the same thing. Each horse is assessed first and quoted for what it actually needs.

What affects the cost

  • The condition and what the vet wants to achieve
  • Shoe type and materials: fabricated bar shoes, therapeutic or plastic shoes, padding and impression materials
  • Time at the forge and at the foot, which grows with the complexity of the work
  • How often the horse needs to be seen and reviewed
  • Any assessment tools used, such as gait analysis or leverage testing

How it works

  • An initial assessment visit, which is charged separately.
  • A plan and price for the shoeing and review schedule, agreed with you before work begins.
  • Any change to the plan is discussed with you first.
Standard shoeing. Prices for routine trimming and shoeing are on the price list and cost estimator.
