Who is responsible for your data

Mark Humphrey, trading as Bunny Hill Farriery and Mark Humphrey Farrier, is the controller of your personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Bunny Hill Farriery, School of National Equitation Limited, Bunny Hill Top, Costock, Loughborough, Leicestershire. Email [email protected]. Phone 07971 063407. For any privacy question or request, contact me using these details.

What I collect

  • Contact and booking details: name, address or yard location, phone, email, and the horse's name and location.
  • Horse records: notes, photographs, video, and assessment data (for example Hoofbeat, Sleip, Metron and Consteed), veterinary details and shoeing history.
  • Referral details: if a vet or other professional refers a horse, I receive the information needed to carry out the work.
  • Payments and invoices: what you were charged and paid. I do not store full card details.
  • Website and call-out calculator: if you use the calculator I process the postcode you enter, to work out travel distance and time. Messages or forms you send me are kept so I can reply.
  • Technical data: like most sites, the website platform may record limited data such as device type and pages visited, and may use cookies.

Why I use it and the legal basis

  • To book and carry out work and to invoice you (contract).
  • To keep records, meet tax and accounting rules, and handle claims (legal obligation and legitimate interests).
  • To share horse records with the horse's vet or other professionals involved in its care (legitimate interests, and your consent where appropriate).
  • To use photographs, video, case information or assessment data publicly in case studies, social media or teaching (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
  • To reply to enquiries and run the website (legitimate interests).

Case studies and images

Case studies and teaching material are only published with the owner's consent, and I change horse names and remove identifying details wherever possible. You can withdraw consent and ask for material to be removed at any time by contacting me. Material already printed or shared by others may not be possible to recall.

Who I share data with

I do not sell personal data. I share it only where needed, with:

  • the horse's vet and other professionals involved in its care, with your consent;
  • service providers that help me run the business, such as website hosting (Create), email, calendar and document tools (Google), notes and scheduling tools (Notion), the database that runs the call-out calculator (Supabase), and payment providers (SumUp and myPOS);
  • my accountants and, where the law requires it, HMRC or other authorities.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, I rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy arrangement.

How long I keep it

  • Invoices and accounting records: at least six years, as tax law requires.
  • Horse and client records: for as long as I work with you, and for a reasonable period afterwards so I can answer questions about earlier work.
  • Enquiries that do not lead to work: normally no longer than two years.
  • Consent-based material: until you withdraw consent.

Your rights

You can ask me to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how I use it, move it to someone else, or withdraw consent. Contact me using the details above and I will reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though I would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Security

I keep records in password-protected accounts and devices, and only share what is needed. No system is completely secure, and I will tell you and the ICO about a breach where the law requires.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy and will change the date at the top when I do.
